I am writing this blog during breakfast on 1/6 at our hotel.
After our arrival at the hotel around 7PM, we took a few minutes to gather ourselves and freshen up. We gathered for dinner in the restaurant dining room at 8:15PM (it only opened at 8PM - European dinner hours!):
The dinner was grilled salmon with couscous and bread:
The fish was wonderfully prepared and everyone enjoyed the meal. But of particular enjoyment was the view out of the dining room:
We finished dinner with a local blueberry cobbler topped with rice milk ice cream (which was a distinct flavor, something like a light cinnamon):
Although we were really tired, the draw of the water and the distant mountains was irresistible. Several of us wandered across the street and along the edge of the water to view the boats, waterfowl, and the sun slowly setting behind the mountains across the fjord. Sunset didn't arrive until about 11PM:
We are very excited for hiking in the park and seeing glaciers tomorrow!
